May 3, 2007 On behalf of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, I want to thank you for including us on the distribution list of your very thoughtful Press Release concerning the student massacre that occurred at Virginia Tech on April 16. I particularly want to thank you for your demonstration of confidence in security agencies whose duty it is to guard against tragedies of this nature. Knowing that we have the support of the Coalition of Muslim Organizations is indeed very encouraging. As police agencies, we depend on the cooperation and collaboration of the communities that we serve to help build a society that is peaceful and secure. It makes me very proud that people of your high calibre serve on my Advisory Committee on Visible Minorities. Your words of wisdom have been heard, and we look to continuing to work with you as we all strive for safe homes and safe communities.”
